Carpio-led Coalition Vows to Halt Philippines’ Passive Stance on Sovereignty

As the territorial dispute over the West Philippine Sea continues to pose a significant threat to the nation’s sovereignty, former Associate Justice Antonio Carpio has expressed strong criticism towards the current administration’s inadequate response. According to Carpio, the government’s reluctance to assert its claims and defend its territory is not only unpatriotic but also detrimental to the country’s long-term interests.

Carpio, who serves as a key figure in the opposition coalition 1Sambayan, has reaffirmed his commitment to addressing this pressing issue. He emphasized that the coalition will work tirelessly to ensure that the Philippines’ sovereignty is upheld and its rights are respected.

The former Justice pointed out that the current administration’s refusal to defend the country’s claims in the West Philippine Sea is a manifestation of its lack of resolve and dedication to protecting the nation’s interests. He underscored the need for strong leadership and decisive action to safeguard the Philippines’ sovereignty and territorial integrity.
