The latest figures on the net worth of Supreme Court justices have been released, providing a snapshot of their financial standing as of 2017. According to the summary report posted on the court’s website, Associate Justice Francis Jardeleza retained his position as the richest justice with a net worth of P261 million.
Notably, Acting Chief Justice Antonio Carpio saw the largest increase in wealth among his colleagues, with an impressive rise of P23.23 million due to an increase in real property. This surge catapulted him to the fourth spot on the list, with a net worth exceeding P105.87 million.
On the other end of the spectrum, Associate Justice Marvic Leonen remains the least wealthy justice, declaring a net worth of just over P2.96 million, which is an increase of more than P479,000 from 2016.
The figures include those who are no longer serving on the court, such as ousted Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno and retired Associate Justices Presbitero Velasco Jr. and Samuel Martires.
