Government Fails to Address Bulk Importation of Illicit Substances

At the Supreme Court, Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio questioned the government’s strategy in fighting illegal drugs. He suggested that the focus should be on stopping bulk importation rather than targeting street-level operations.

Carpio pointed out that if the supply of illicit substances is addressed, there would be no demand for them. However, Solicitor General Calida responded by highlighting the challenges of policing an archipelago like the Philippines, where drugs can be easily transported through various routes.
