Philippine Supreme Court Justice Antonio Carpio has denied involvement in the ouster of former Chief Justice Renato Corona. During a Judicial and Bar Council hearing, Carpio stressed his commitment to upholding the Constitution and his independence from politics.
Carpio clarified that he had not conspired with President Aquino or Secretary Roxas, as previously suggested by some critics. He emphasized the importance of judicial impartiality and stated that he would remain committed to this principle if appointed as Chief Justice.
In addressing concerns about the impact of Corona’s impeachment on the judiciary, Carpio noted that the court’s integrity remains unaffected. He highlighted the need for effective dispute resolution mechanisms and suggested additional training for mediators and judges to improve case resolution rates.
