IBP Endorses Carpio for Chief Justice Despite His Refusal

The Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) has made a surprising move by endorsing Acting Chief Justice Antonio Carpio for the country’s highest judicial post. This decision was taken despite Carpio’s earlier refusal to accept any nomination.

Carpio’s seniority and experience make him an ideal candidate, according to the IBP. He has been serving as a Supreme Court Associate Justice since 2001 and is widely regarded as one of the most qualified individuals for the position.

The vacancy in the top SC post was created after the ouster of Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno, who was removed from office in May this year. The landmark decision that unseated her attained finality last week.
