China’s Surveillance of Philippine Leaders Raises Concerns

Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio has spoken out about the potential monitoring of his phone calls and emails by China.

Carpio made the statement after a power outage interrupted a lecture on the South China Sea at an Integrated Bar of the Philippines convention in Iloilo City.

The Supreme Court justice expressed concern over China’s capabilities, saying he knew his communications were being monitored but didn’t realize they could interfere with videos.
