A shocking revelation came forth from Retired Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio as he shared an intriguing experience during his tenure. Someone from the Aquino administration made a surprising move by attempting to remove him from the Philippine delegation attending the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague back in 2016.
Carpio was scheduled to be part of the team for the final oral argument on the Philippines’ arbitration case against China. However, upon reviewing the list, he noticed his name had been mysteriously removed.
When confronted about the omission, Secretary Albert del Rosario intervened and stated that if Carpio was not attending, he would also refrain from participating in the delegation.
