Carpio Dares Duterte to Resign Over West Philippine Sea Claims

Retired Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio has accepted President Rodrigo Duterte’s challenge to debate on territorial issues surrounding the West Philippine Sea.

In a statement, Carpio said he was willing to engage in a formal debate with Duterte and clear up any misconceptions about his involvement in the 2012 Scarborough standoff.

Carpio emphasized that he had limited knowledge of the matter at the time, as he was serving on the Supreme Court bench.

He called for President Duterte to keep his word of honor by resigning immediately if proven false about Carpio’s alleged involvement in the incident.
