Retired Justice Antonio Carpio suggests that the Supreme Court may still reverse its decision declaring Sara Duterte’s impeachment articles unconstitutional. The possibility arises from the House of Representatives’ plan to file a motion for reconsideration, citing incorrect findings.
Historically, the SC has reversed itself in similar situations. However, if the decision becomes final, it must be followed as the Supreme Court is the ultimate arbiter, whether correct or not.
Senate President Francis Escudero announced that the Senate will discuss the decision on August 6, allowing ample time for members to study the ruling.
