Former Justice Carpio Urges Incoming Ombudsman to Make SALNs Publicly Available

Former Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Carpio has called on incoming Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla to prioritize transparency by making Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALNs) publicly accessible. According to Carpio, this move would help restore public trust in government, which has been compromised due to recent scandals involving flood control projects.

Carpio emphasized that SALNs should only have private information redacted, such as residences and children’s names. He also stressed the importance of fairness and selective prosecution, urging Remulla to follow evidence and prosecute cases impartially.
