Carpio’s Concerns on Special RTC Courts in Graft-Ridden Projects

Retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Antonio Carpio has raised concerns over the special Regional Trial Court (RTC) courts that are handling cases related to graft-ridden infrastructure projects. In a recent interview with ANC’s Karen Davila, Carpio highlighted the need for transparency and accountability in the judiciary.

Carpio emphasized that the special RTC courts should be transparent in their proceedings, especially when dealing with high-profile cases like the flood control scandal. He also stressed the importance of the Ombudsman’s powers in investigating graft cases and ensuring that those responsible are held accountable.

The retired Justice also touched on the issue of Senator Joel Villanueva’s dismissal being reversed, which he believes is a clear indication of the need for reforms in the judiciary. Carpio emphasized that the Supreme Court must take a strong stance against corruption and ensure that justice is served.
